Architectural Program and Design

By: Liam Roche

Software Approach: AutoCAD 2020

  • To visualize the floor plan of the home, group will use AutoCAD 2020

  • AutoCAD is the most widely utilized software for architectural drawings and designs

  • Simple and user-friendly interface makes for a proven option for architectural design

Sustainable Building Design Plan

  • Two story, three bedroom and four bath design

  • Attached garage and breezeway

  • Large windows and overhangs for allowing solar penetration in winter and blocking solar penetration in summer

  • Pitched roof will support effective solar panel design, provide great stability, and protect against harsh weather conditions

Glazier During Work

General Floor Plan Design

  • Open style of floor plan will be implemented

  • Maximizes usable space and allows for energy efficient cooling and heating

  • Allows flow of natural light throughout the floor which eliminates the need for excessive lighting

  • Ten inch gaps in outer framework allows for sufficient amount of insulation

Week 2

  • Architectural Layout of the Residential Home was created in AutoCADD showcasing the lower and upper level of the home. The site is located in the suburbs of Philadelphia. This home will be powered by geothermal ventilation, solar panels, and include a water catchment system for water storage to be used in sinks, bathrooms, and washers.
